With the eFootball 2026 v5.4.0 update, KONAMI has finally brought something that resembles Master League back into the game, but not in the way most expected. Instead of a full-fledged offline mode, we get Master League Sprint, a time-limited event that captures the core idea of building and managing a team across a season, but in a much shorter and faster format, just running for a week.

From what I’ve played, this feels very close to My League, but with more focus on squad management and player rotation. The best part is that you don’t need to manually play every single game, which actually makes it more strategic than it first looks. To answer all your questions, I have this Master League Sprint Guide for eFootball 2026.

Master League Sprint is built around a season format where you take control of a club, manage your squad, and aim to finish at the top of the league. Once you select your team from any league of your liking, you are placed into a schedule that progresses match by match.

Your starting squad includes familiar original Master League players like Castolo and Minanda, along with a basic supporting lineup. From there, your job is to gradually improve the team using the resources you earn and signing new players to build your club.

Progress is quick because not every game is played manually, unlike My League. You will see that only some matches are marked as user-controlled, which means you take full control and play them like a normal match. You can use the Auto Control option, though.

However, most matches are Synergy Matches, which are automatically simulated based on your team’s strength. Because of that, the focus shifts quite a bit. Instead of depending on your eFootball skill, you need to prepare your team properly before each match.

Core gameplay of the Master League Sprint

Understanding Synergy

Instead of relying on overall ratings like in Dream Team, Master League Sprint introduces Synergy as the main indicator of team strength. Synergy is influenced by multiple factors, including player quality, stamina levels, and condition (form arrows).

It also depends on how well your team is structured, so simply stacking high-rated players is not enough. Synergy behaves more like a probability indicator rather than a guaranteed result. Even if your Synergy is higher than your opponent’s, you can still lose matches.

This becomes very noticeable in simulated games, where you have no direct control. Lineup selection, player condition, and stamina all influence the outcome of simulated games, which is the majority in this mode.

There are also situations where the game applies bonuses or penalties based on how your squad is set up. There is only one positive synergy, rest all are negative.

For the positioning part of things, you can just click on the preset formations, which usually satisfy all these conditions, as they stick to basics, unlike us trying weird tactics online.

Understanding the Lives system

The Lives system might look confusing at first, but it’s just an energy mechanic. I don’t know why it looks a little more threatening than it should be, but we move.

You have a total of 10 Lives, and each match consumes one Life. Instead of being a strict limitation, these Lives regenerate over time, one by one. This means you can continue playing after a break; you can compare this to the PES’ energy mechanic days.

Squad Management and player transfers

Managing your squad is easily the most important part of this mode. Before every match, checking your players’ stamina and condition can make a big difference, because Synergy is never consistent, and you need to work around your squad to get the maximum number.

Players with low stamina or poor form can negatively impact your Synergy, even if they are among your best options on paper. Replacing them with fresher or in-form players often leads to better winning percentage and hence results, especially in simulated matches.

Player signing and releasing

Transfers in this mode revolve around a points-based system, which acts as your main currency. You earn points by playing matches and progressing through the season, and these points can be used to sign new players. The interesting part is that you are not limited to just standard players.

You can also bring in players from your Dream Team lineup. While they won’t come fully upgraded at first, they are still very useful, especially early on when leveling up requires less experience. Managers can also be signed in a similar way, both from Dream Team and standard.

You can also release players. This gives you points in return, and stronger players can provide better returns.

Progression in Master League Sprint is tied to how well you perform across the season. Winning matches, managing your squad effectively to get the best synergy every game, and making transfer decisions for proper backups all contribute to your progress.

The rewards mainly revolve around points and supporters, which you use to strengthen your team and progress further in the mode. While points help in signing players, supporters will be there to get rewards for milestones, so that you can use them in the Dream Team mode.

For matches that you control, you can choose the difficulty level before playing. Higher difficulty levels offer better rewards in terms of points and supporters. If you feel that the synergy is low, you don’t have to push for the Legend difficulty.

As you progress through the season, you will encounter Episodes, which are random events that affect your team. These can be beneficial, such as improving a player’s condition or giving development boosts. At the same time, they can also be injuries or a temporary loss of form for a player.

From what I’ve experienced and found a little bit of success in, here are my tips that’ll come in handy:

• Splitting the initial 1,000,000 during the first transfer window is super important. I went to sign a 85 rated manager, and two POTW cards from my Dream Team who come fully trained to the squad. All three were around the same number of points for me, and definitely helped me give some wins early.
• Resting players is a good move, but if you see your starting XI has taken a hit, you can afford to replace them with a lower-rated card in case the opponent’s synergy is low. In most cases, you get a win or at least a draw.
• Check out player form, and play a good mix of form + stamina. Because one factor doesn’t influence synergy alone. I have tried to check it multiple times, but there’s no clear-cut answer. You just have to make your squad flexible, play multiple formations, and then see what’s the best combination.
