Bang Bang to revamp older skins every year with Project Reforge – Hot News

MOONTON Games has revealed that Mobile Legends: Bang Bang will continue improving and updating older skins through its Project Reforge initiative. Rather than being a one-time event, the program is set to become a long-term commitment, with the devs planning annual skin upgrades to make sure older ones remain visually appealing and relevant as MLBB continues to evolve.

Project Reforge will continue upgrading older skins over time

According to the devs, Project Reforge is not limited to premium or high-tier skins. While many of the game’s iconic skins have already received improvements in the past, MOONTON Games also acknowledged that numerous lower-tier and classic skins have also been with players for years and deserve attention as well. But their goal is not to revamp every older skin into a premium quality one.

Instead, the devs want these skins to meet today’s visual standards with improvements such as “better models, clearer colors, cleaner skill effects, and consistent hero identity.” And since the game features a huge collection of skins, we can expect the revamps to be released gradually in batches. While the devs can’t update every skin immediately, they confirmed that the “initiative is officially underway.“

Project Reforge 2.0 aims to future-proof older purchases

With Project Reforge 2.0, MLBB aims to ensure that the skins we purchased years ago don’t feel outdated as technology and production capabilities continue to improve. The devs explained that as MLBB advances, they’ll continue “looking back at released skins to ensure they meet the new quality baseline.”

However, they also noted that these skin revamps require significant development resources, since every update involves work across multiple departments, including “modeling, animation, visual effects, sound design, presentation, and performance optimization.” And they have to do this while also working on producing new heroes like Hirara, skins like the Rolling Tides series, and new patch content.

Now, as a veteran MLBB player, I’m really happy about this initiative since many of the classic skins I own hold nostalgic value, and I would love to see them receive modern visual enhancements without losing their original identity. I hope they work on Gusion’s Legend skin and the V.E.N.O.M. series, to name a few.
